Frost Mountain Nordic
Bill Koch Ski League
Cross Country Ski Club for Girls and Boys aged 5-13
Philosophy: The Bill Koch Youth Ski League is a national organization designed to get children involved in the world of nordic skiing. Our philosophy is to have fun while learning to become proficient cross country (nordic) skiers. All abilities are welcome. Practices are Saturdays, December through March (as long as there is snow to ski on) from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Rikert Ski Touring Center on the Breadloaf Campus. For those interested in racing and more frequent ski workouts, we will ski mid-week as well.
Coaches: Our core coaching staff are volunteers, parents of children in the program, who are dedicated to the sport and deeply experienced. We will practice both classic and skate technique. Any parent interested in helping out with the coaching is welcome (and encouraged to attend coaches’ clinic November 19th).
Racing: For skiers interested in competing, we will coordinate travel to Bill Koch races in Vermont as well as host one ourselves. All races have courses that are age appropriate and all races are hosted with the fun loving Bill Koch spirit.
Equipment: Club fees include ski rentals for the season from Rikert Ski Touring Center (but you can’t take them home). The fee also makes your child a member of the Frost Mountain Nordic Club, our umbrella organization dedicated to development of the sport of nordic skiing in Middlebury. As a member of Frost Mountain Nordic you are eligible for discounts at the Middlebury Mountaineer. We encourage parents to come up, drop their kids off and head out for a ski. (Season passes are a great deal at Rikert.)
